Test

What happens next?

Continue to drink plenty of fluids and go to the toilet often for the rest of the day. This will help to get rid of the small amount of radiation injected into you for the test.

Usually there is no problem returning to work. However, ask the staff for advice if you work with radiation, in the photographic industry or with children.

You can drive or use public transport after the test.

You can eat as normal after the test.

You will be given specific instructions, including the following.

  • Drink plenty of extra fluids – water, tea and coffee and so on.
  • Flush the toilet well after using it.
  • Wash your hands thoroughly each time you use the toilet.
  • During the 24 hours after the test, avoid prolonged contact with babies, small children and anyone who is, or may be, pregnant.

An example of prolonged contact would be a child sitting on your knee for more than half an hour.
