Alternative approaches to quitting

There are a number of products advertised in magazines and health shops. Currently there is not enough evidence to suggest how useful they might be.

These products include:

• Dummy cigarettes (although these are not helpful for a physical addiction)
• Herbal preparations
• Hypnotherapy
• Acupuncture; and
• Self-help books.
