How can I avoid unnecessary stress?

  • Stop trying to do more than one thing at a time.
  • Take regular exercise.
  • Find time to relax each day – there is always time.
  • Eat a balanced diet and eat slowly.
  • Walk, talk and move at a slower pace.
  • Smile.
  • Find ways to escape from everyday pressures (for example, by reading, having pastimes, playing sports and so on).
  • Make sure you get enough rest. Try to wind down physically and mentally before you go to sleep.
  • Try to avoid getting impatient. Very few things are that important.
  • If you get angry, try to get it out of your system in a constructive way.
  • Try to do things that you enjoy.
  • Spend at least 10 minutes each day alone.
  • If you feel stressed, try to talk to someone.
  • Get support and try not to become isolated.
