About us

We, University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust, are one of the largest and busiest teaching-hospital trusts in England. We employ 12,500 staff and provide services to nearly a million people across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland and beyond. We have an income of more than £500 million a year.

Our trust includes Glenfield Hospital, Leicester General Hospital and Leicester Royal Infirmary. All three hospitals provide emergency, specialist and general hospital services.

In partnership with six primary care trusts, we serve a range of communities, including some of the poorest communities in the country and some of the wealthiest.

We also provide high-quality specialist care to patients across the country, many who are referred to us from other hospitals.

We are rated as one of Britain's top teaching-hospital trusts. Our mission is to give patients the best possible care so that they can live healthier, fuller, longer lives.

The ‘Activate Your Heart’ project was selected by the Health Foundation for a Shine Award for innovation.  This Award gave us the opportunity to develop the website and integrate this new approach to cardiac rehabilitation with the existing clinical service.
